We get it — the word "weld" sounds intense. But permanent jewelry welding is one of the most gentle, precise, and honestly satisfying processes you'll ever witness. Here's a peek behind the curtain at what happens during your appointment at Shop Hazel Jane.
The Tools
We use a professional pulse arc welder — a small, precise device that delivers a controlled burst of energy to fuse a tiny jump ring closed. It's the same technology used by fine jewelers worldwide.
The Process, Step by Step
- You choose your chain and metal — stainless steel, 14k gold filled, or sterling silver
- We measure and fit — your chain is sized to fit perfectly around your wrist, ankle, or neck with no slack and no tightness
- We position the jump ring — a tiny ring connects the two ends of your chain
- The weld — in less than a second, the welder fuses the ring closed. You won't feel heat. You won't feel pain. You'll just hear a soft click.
- Done! — we inspect the weld, make sure it's smooth and secure, and you're on your way
Why It's Safe
The pulse arc welder only affects the tiny metal jump ring — not your skin. Our welders are trained and experienced, with over 5,000 welds completed at Shop Hazel Jane.
