One of the most common questions we get at Hazel Jane is: "How do I take care of my permanent jewelry?" The good news? It's incredibly low-maintenance. Here's everything you need to know.
General Care Tips
- Wear it everywhere — permanent jewelry is designed for daily life. Shower, swim, sleep in it.
- Pat dry after water exposure — while your piece is water-resistant, gently drying it helps maintain its shine.
-
Avoid harsh chemicals — chlorine, bleach, and strong cleaning products can dull your chain over time. Remove gloves carefully if you’ve been cleaning.
Caring for Each Metal Type
Stainless Steel
Virtually maintenance-free. Wipe with a soft cloth to restore shine. Highly resistant to tarnish and corrosion.
14k Gold Filled
Avoid prolonged exposure to saltwater and sweat when possible. Polish occasionally with a jewelry cloth to keep it gleaming.
Sterling Silver
Silver naturally tarnishes over time — that's normal! Use a silver polishing cloth to bring back the shine. Store away from air when not wearing (though with permanent jewelry, that's rarely an issue!).
